Training as a forest manager (m/f/d)

Work in the forest is hardly comparable with industrial workplaces. The main difference is the constantly changing work locations. It takes place almost exclusively outdoors all year round and is very varied. Timber harvesting is the main focus. Forest establishment, forest maintenance (thinning and young stand maintenance), forest protection, path construction and maintenance, landscape conservation and recreational measures (maintenance of forest edges, design of rest areas, etc.) are other important tasks.

Forest work is physically hard work despite technical aids. It is only suitable for applicants who are in good health and in top physical condition.

Modern work equipment supports the work: from chainsaws, which are constantly being developed technically, to powerful specialised forestry tractors and harvesters. Practically equipped staff vehicles, mobile phones and functional clothing made from modern high-tech fabrics make the workplace attractive and make it easier to spend time outdoors.

Components:

Practical training in the municipal forest, combined with the following school-based courses:

- Year 1: 12 weeks of vocational school (forestry school). Year: 12 weeks of vocational school (Mattenhof Forestry Training Centre in Gengenbach, 80% technical education and 20% general education)
- 1st and 3rd year: 12 weeks of block teaching each, including 40% inter-company training at the Itzelberg Forestry School

Apprenticeship course:

5 weeks of block teaching
6 weeks of block teaching

Desired school-leaving qualification:

At least secondary school

Apprenticeship pay:

1. Year: €1,368.26
2nd year: €1,418.20
3rd year: €1,464.02
