Gardener - gardening and landscaping (degewo Gebäudeservice GmbH)
Offer description
Parks, green spaces, sports fields and play areas make a decisive contribution to the quality of life in cities - but without specialists in gardening and landscaping, these places would be almost inconceivable. The training programme teaches how environmental areas are designed according to the plans of landscape architects. Green spaces in urban areas fulfil important tasks: They regulate the climate, purify the air, store precipitation, produce oxygen and create habitats for plants and animals.
Gardeners specialising in gardening and landscaping create such areas and take care of their maintenance. This profession requires commitment and physical activity - ideal for anyone who likes to get stuck in and work outdoors.
What do gardeners specialising in gardening and landscaping do?
Gardeners specialising in gardening and landscaping design gardens and green spaces by planting lawns, trees, shrubs, perennials and summer flowers. They create outdoor facilities of all kinds - from terraces and parks to playgrounds and sports fields to greenery along traffic routes.
The tasks also include:
- Paving paths and squares
- Building steps, dry stone walls, fences and noise barriers
- Greening roofs and facades
What else will I learn?
Gardeners know which shrubs or flowers grow best in which location and can differentiate between poisonous and non-poisonous plants. They are just as familiar with earthworks and wall construction as they are with trees and flowers. There are also inter-company courses in which the trainees learn how to process natural stone professionally, for example.
How long does the apprenticeship last?
Three years in total. During this time, our apprentices not only work practically, but also attend the Peter Lenné School. The course content is tailored to the profession, for example plant science, technology or maths, so that you can also maintain a spatial overview when building an outdoor area.
