Training content:
- - In your three-year, practice-oriented training as a gardener for fruit growing, you will propagate, cultivate and harvest fruit.
- - You will plant and care for fruit trees to produce high-quality fruit.
- - You will also learn how to process the fruit (juice, dried fruit, etc.).
- - You will harvest the fruit properly at the right time. Sorting, packing and storing the fruit is also part of your tasks.
- - You will learn how to evaluate and assess current varieties.
- - Your tasks will also include supervising and carrying out a wide range of fruit-growing trials.
Your profile:
- - On 1 September 2026, you will have at least a qualifying secondary school leaving certificate or an educational qualification recognised as equivalent.
- - You are in good health for the gardening profession.
- - You enjoy working outdoors and are interested in modern technology, craftsmanship and business management processes.
- - You are skilful, careful and flexible to work at weekends depending on the season.
- - It would be an advantage to have a class L and/or B driving licence.

The theoretical training takes place at the vocational school centre in Bamberg and at the Christiane Herzog School in Heilbronn with boarding accommodation and at the Hiltpoltstein Fruit Information Centre.
The vocational training relationship is based on the provisions of the collective agreement for trainees in the public sector (TVAöD).
The monthly training allowance is currently:
- €1,368.26 in the first year of training
- €1,418.20 in the second year of training
- €1,464.02 in the third year of training
In addition, a learning materials allowance of €50.00 gross is granted for each year of training. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, a €400.00 completion bonus is paid.
The positions are filled in compliance with the provisions of the German Disability Discrimination Act and the General Equal Treatment Act.
