Professional profile

The work of dairy laboratory technicians primarily involves checking the quality of the raw milk delivered and the products manufactured in the control laboratories. This includes precise and careful analysis of the ingredients and properties using microbiological, chemical, physical and sensory testing methods. Various legal regulations (hygiene, food law, product standards and environmental protection) as well as new technologies constantly influence the responsible work in the laboratory.

Training programme

The training takes place in a dual system, i.e. in the training company and at the vocational school. The practical training takes place in the individual areas of the laboratory. There, training takes place alongside the work process.

- Receiving laboratory

Two examinations must be taken at the Chamber of Agriculture:

- Intermediate examination (theory and practice in the second year of training)
- Final examination (theory and practice at the end of training)

Employment as a laboratory technician in the dairy control laboratory or in related areas of food production

Recruitment requirements

Extended lower secondary school leaving certificate or A-levels with good results in science subjects (maths, biology, chemistry), Biology, chemistry). Suitable applicants will be selected after the interviews have been completed.
