Professional profile
The field of activity of dairy technologists (m/f/d) is very diverse. They process raw milk into dairy products of all kinds, from fresh products and butter to various types of cheese and milk powder. The job also includes control and monitoring tasks at various production plants for the industrial production of dairy products. They also check the quantity and quality of the raw milk supplied. Milk technologists work in the milk processing industry, but their skills are also in high demand in research and development and other food sectors. New technologies influence their work just as much as production standards and occupational health and safety and environmental protection.
Training programme
Training takes place in the dual system, i.e. in the training company and at vocational school. Practical training takes place in the individual production areas. Training takes place alongside production.
Vocational training in the company
The training takes place in the following areas:
- Milk reception
- Production of dry products
- Production of butterfat
- Production of cheese and butter (trainee exchange with the production site in Bismark; Saxony-Anhalt)
- Quality assurance / laboratory
- Industrial hygiene and operating technology
- Packaging and storage
School training at the vocational college

The vocational school takes place in block lessons. Boarding accommodation is provided.

Two examinations must be taken at the Chamber of Agriculture:
- Intermediate examination (theory and practice in the second year of training)
- Final examination (theory and practice at the end of training)

Entry requirements
Secondary school leaving certificate I with good results in science subjects (maths, Biology, chemistry). Suitable applicants will be selected after the interviews have been completed.
