Farmer (Ulrich Streif)
Offer description
Branches of agriculture:
Arable farming: The arable land is mainly used to grow rapeseed and cereals. Rapeseed blossoms provide nectar for the monastery's honey, while the rapeseed grains are cold-pressed and processed into rapeseed oil. Both rapeseed honey and rapeseed oil are sold in the monastery shop.
Mother cows: 30 mother cows and their calves are kept on the monastery estate. The Fleckvieh cows are not milked, but raise their calves themselves. In spring, the animals leave the barn and stay outside on the pastures of the Härtsfeld until the first snowfall. From May, a bull also joins the herd. In autumn, young cattle are sold for further fattening.
Chickens: Around 15,000 laying hens are kept on the monastery estate in free-range and barn systems with a large conservatory. They lay tasty, brown eggs every day. Healthy, mineral-rich feed and fresh water are always available and are checked daily. Strict cleanliness and hygiene regulations guarantee you the best egg quality and good taste.
The Neresheim monastery estate supplies various Edeka, Kaufland and REWE markets in the region with fresh monastery eggs
