Job description
The Boxberg Education and Knowledge Centre (State Institute for Pig Breeding - LSZ) has a vacancy for a

Farmer or animal farmer in pig farming (f/m/d)

part-time (min. 50% to max. 80%), temporary replacement position to be filled as soon as possible.

The LSZ is the central educational, experimental and performance testing facility of the state of Baden-Württemberg in the field of pig farming and pig breeding with administrative, teaching and accommodation buildings as well as stable areas, feed centre, workshop and slaughterhouse. It is an inter-company training centre for the agricultural and animal husbandry professions.

The livestock of the training and experimental farm comprises 252 sows with piglet rearing and pig fattening. two thirds of the herd are kept in stables of conventional construction (thermally insulated, heatable, forced ventilation stables) and one third in stables of alternative construction (non-thermally insulated open-fronted stables, gravity ventilation).

Your main area of responsibility:

- You will carry out all routine work in the teaching and experimental barns of conventional and alternative construction in the areas of piglet production, piglet rearing and pig fattening and will be involved in practice-oriented trials.
- In addition, you will assist with routine work in the feed centre, such as the preparation of feed rations, as well as cleaning and maintenance tasks at the grinding and mixing plant.

Your profile:

- You have completed training in a recognised agricultural occupation (e.g. farmer, animal farmer).
- You have good specialist knowledge and practical experience in all areas of pig farming as well as an enthusiasm for the daily handling of pigs.
- You are physically fit to carry out all work in the feed centre and the training and experimental stables.
- You are a passionate farmer or animal farmer and are willing to work regularly at weekends and on public holidays.
- Willingness and open-mindedness for the special requirements of a training and experimental farm with alternative husbandry systems and modern barn technology including digital management programmes and electronic data recording.
- A consistent, reliable work attitude characterises you and you are committed,
contact and team-oriented.
- You have confidence and good expressiveness in the German language (at least level B2).
- You have organisational skills.

An advantage:

- You have a valid class B/class 3 and class T driving licence.
- IT skills (MS Office), as well as experience with digital systems (e.g. sow planner).

The employment relationship is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L), supplemented by the collective agreement TV-Tierhaltung. Remuneration is based on the collective agreement and personal requirements up to pay group 5[1] (https:#_ftn1).
