Ranger (m/f/d)

The Hochtaunuskreis is initially funding the employment of a Ranger (m/f/d) in the Taunus Nature Park for two years as part of a pilot project. The Taunus Nature Park is the second largest nature park in Hesse and is located just 30 km north-west of Frankfurt and covers the areas of Hochtaunuskreis, Main-Taunus-Kreis, Wetteraukreis, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Landkreis Limburg-Weilburg, Landkreis Gießen and the city of Frankfurt. The recruitment takes place at the City of Kronberg im Taunus in the "Public Safety" department. This is assigned to the "Safety and Order" department.

The department is divided into the specialist departments of Citizens' Office, Civil Protection, Public Safety and Registry Office.

What you can expect in detail:

- Practical nature conservation tasks and supervision of the service area (Taunus Nature Park area in the districts of Kronberg, Königstein, Glashütten, Oberursel, Schmitten) in the field
- Forest fire prevention by patrolling the service area using official resources, in particular through education, Investigation and reporting in close cooperation with the public order and fire protection authorities of the municipalities in the service area
- Punishment of administrative offences according to jurisdiction and order (especially in the areas of fire prevention, public order and illegal waste disposal)
- Information work and advice for recreationists on nature-friendly stays in the nature park area with the involvement of the certified nature and landscape guides of the Taunus Nature Park.
- Resolving conflict situations
- Safeguarding habitats and locations as well as the living conditions of native animal and plant species, especially endangered species, in cooperation with the Taunus Nature Park.
- Practical species and biotope protection
- Developing educational work, especially guided tours for school classes, kindergartens, specialist audiences and nature park visitors, and implementing it in cooperation with the Taunus Nature Park, which already employs certified nature and landscape guides (m/f/d) in this area and works together with educational institutions.
- Follow-up and process processing in the office

What you need:

- Completed training as a certified nature and landscape conservationist (m/f/d) or as a certified nature and landscape guide (m/f/d) or a comparable qualification that demonstrates previous knowledge and/or experience in the field of environmental and nature conservation (training, certificates, professional experience).
- Ideally, you have completed the special course for the training of auxiliary police officers (public order police) in the state of Hesse and thus fulfil the requirements to be appointed as a public order police officer (m/f/d) or are willing to complete the course in order to be appointed accordingly afterwards.
- You have experience in practical nature conservation work and have a good knowledge of the ecological values of protected areas and areas as well as basic knowledge of native flora and fauna.
- Furthermore, you have a basic knowledge of the objectives of nature conservation and landscape management as well as the relevant legislation.
- Your strengths include a confident manner, ability to work under pressure, independence and structured work as well as the ability to deal with conflicts with citizens and recreationists and have friendly and polite manners.
- The basic willingness to take on special duties at weekends, in the evening and at night in exceptional cases. Participation in specialist training measures is a prerequisite.
- You have knowledge of the usual PC programs (Office programs) and are in possession of a class B driving licence.
- Furthermore, you have initiative, motivation and a high level of communication, teamwork and cooperation skills, but also assertiveness round off your profile.

General:

- The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is generally divisible, but it must be ensured that the position is filled in full.
- The place of work is split between the Taunus Nature Park (TIZ) in Oberursel and the city of Kronberg im Taunus.
- The position is initially limited to two years for the duration of the pilot project.
- Remuneration is based on appropriate qualifications and fulfilment of the corresponding collective agreement requirements up to pay group 9a TVöD (annual salary between 46.600 € and 59,740 €).
