Job description
The remuneration depends on the assignment of tasks and fulfilment of the personal requirements up to pay group 11 TV-L. Work tasks:
- Independent responsibility for the planning, preparation and implementation of sowing, cultivation, harvesting and harvest analysis of large variety trials with hundreds to thousands of plots as well as their scientific-technical evaluation based on complex agronomic issues (architecture, leaf characteristics, biomass, growth, photosynthetic efficiency, water balance, temperature, nutrient content, yield, germination time, stress tolerance); Ensuring the quality and reproducibility of results
- Independently introducing, developing and monitoring new sowing, harvesting, crop analysis and scoring methods in the field and carrying out complex assessments, sampling and measurements using digital field sensor technology (in the context of soil, climate, plant)
- Independently assess and decide on the use of plant protection and pest control measures on the basis of plant cultivation expertise
- Independently prepare, carry out and process drone flights of the field trials (incl.a. Thermal, hyperspectral and RGB sensors); Monitoring of autonomous robots in the field
- Instruction, technical/professional guidance and responsibility for the supervision of students and doctoral students in the field of plant cultivation field and experimental technology
- Co-responsibility for the workshop and equipment of the professorship and instruction of students and doctoral students
- Participation in teaching, especially in the context of practical exercises in the field
- Preparation of experimental reports, analogue and digital data storage/archiving, general office activities
Requirements:
- University degree in agricultural sciences or comparable subject area or completed training as a plant technologist or -technologist with master craftsman training and several years of professional experience
- Sound specialist knowledge and experience in plant cultivation trials / trial management
- Experience in the documentation and evaluation of breeding and research experiments, especially in the recording and evaluation using drone flights
- Ability to find solutions to complex problems independently
- Manual skills in the field of agricultural engineering and mechanics, in particular experience in handling technically sophisticated equipment for trial management
- Affinity for IT and technology
- Precise way of working
- Communicative, responsible and team-oriented personality
- Ready-to-use IT skills (MS Office)
- Driving licence class B (T advantageous)
- Certificate of competence in plant protection (desirable)
- Drone driving licence A1/A3 and A2 (desirable)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and advanced communication skills in English
