The State Teaching and Research Institute for Horticulture (LVG) Heidelberg is a state institute within the portfolio of the Ministry of Rural Areas and Consumer Protection of Baden-Württemberg and is responsible for research, education and training in horticulture. Its work focuses on applied research on topics relating to ecology, sustainability and biodiversity as well as the transfer of knowledge from the results to educational and advisory practice. Numerous nationwide project and working groups are networked via the OpenOLAT (Open Learning And Training) system used in Heidelberg. The Staatliche Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Gartenbau (LVG) Heidelberg has a vacancy at the earliest possible date for a temporary position until 30 September 2029.06.2029 for a
Gardener specialising in vegetable growing or ornamental plant cultivation (f/m/d)
as part of the project "Plant strengthening and biostimulants in organic horticulture" (short name: PflöBiGa). The project is funded by the Ministry of Food, Rural Areas and Consumer Protection as part of the implementation of the "Organic from Baden-Württemberg" action plan.
The main tasks include the following activities:
- Carrying out crop-specific activities on the horticultural trial farm, especially in ornamental plant cultivation and vegetable growing
- Sowing, planting and maintaining the trial plots
- Carrying out cultivation measures (plant protection, fertilisation, etc.).)
- Assisting in the evaluation of horticultural trials
- Assuming occasional weekend duties
A completed vocational training as a gardener in the above-mentioned specialisations is a prerequisite. We expect crop-specific and technical understanding. The position is also suitable for career starters.
A valid class B and BE (trailer) driving licence would be desirable. Ideally, you also have a class C1 driving licence (up to 7.5 t).
The applicant must also meet the following requirements:
- Reliability
- Sense of responsibility
- Largely independent work
- Ability to work in a team and flexibility
- Fluent written and spoken German
- Confident use of standard software (MS Office)
The employment relationship and remuneration are based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). Provided that all collective agreement and personal requirements are met, remuneration is in accordance with pay group 5. We offer a subsidy for local public transport (JobTicket BW) and a separate supplementary pension scheme (VBL) as a company pension.
The state of Baden-Württemberg is striving to increase the proportion of women and expressly encourages women to apply. The position is generally divisible, provided that full-time performance of the duties is ensured through job sharing.
