Job description
Deputy Farm Manager (m/f/d) at Landhof Neu Wulmstorf
POSITION
You work directly alongside our farm management and are jointly responsible for ensuring that animal husbandry and processes on the farm function reliably. You will lend a hand in the barn as well as in the organisation and lead at eye level.

YOUR TASKS
- You will look after our dairy herd including offspring as part of a team, e.g. health monitoring, feeding, calf care, hoof care.
- You will take on routine work in the cowshed (including milking services) and carry out animal inspections: Monitoring of animal health, care and feeding of the animals.
- Planning of daily processes and allocation of labour
- Procurement and management of machinery, materials, feed etc.
- Monitoring of production figures
- You will be involved in the production of the farm's own basic fodder (grass, maize) and grain and will carry out harvesting work.
- You will carry out arable farming measures.
- If necessary, you will maintain and care for machines and equipment and carry out minor repairs.
- You will be willing to work weekends and enjoy working with animals (pigs, cows, etc.).

YOUR PROFILE
- You have professional experience in agriculture.
- You have completed agricultural training; a higher degree is desirable.
- You have a class B and T driving licence (BE would be desirable).
- You are a team player, communicative and flexible and work in an organised, responsible and independent manner.
- You are physically resilient, committed and keep an overview even when several topics are running in parallel.

About the farm
- Total area: 140 hectares (approx. 100 hectares of arable land, 40 hectares of grassland)
- Branches of business: Arable/forage farming, dairy cattle and suckler cow husbandry, outdoor pig fattening, laying hens in a mobile barn
- Arable farming: Cultivation of forage (grass, maize) and grain (including for straw)
- Dairy cattle: 120 milking cows (Angler Rotvieh and Holstein Schwarzbunt) at the AMS in large, newly built deep litter straw barn; own rearing of female offspring; bull fattening in cooperation with partner farm; processing of all milk in own dairy for the production of in-house desserts; close cooperation with partner farms from the region
- Suckler cows: Texas Longhorn herd in year-round grazing
- Pig fattening: approx. 70 Bunte Bentheimer and Duroc pigs kept outdoors all year round for marketing in our own farm shop
- Guiding principles/philosophy: Preservation of old livestock breeds, animal welfare takes centre stage, transparency for consumers, combining the traditional with the modern
